I've sensed the Spirit a few times in my life, exs-small group study, probably 1 or 2 times in church service. Now, I'm far from the emotional type of person, but I can say I experienced it. Now for me, neither of these times was there a pre-arranged setting created to make me feel it, it just happened and others at the time sensed it too. So I would catuion, not too force/create/ "stir-up-magic", if you will, during services, I think we can agree that the Spirit will do as it sees fit without human stimulus. Not to say having the Spirit come every week would not be a wonderful feeling, but if it is orally suggested week in and week out, that the Spirit is here, then for me and perhaps visitors that's when one begins to question what is "going on here". As it has been stated that folks need to be respectful of those wishing to soak in the Spirit for a longer time during service, the same respect needs to be given to those who aren't experiencing the Spirit, but are still part of the overall Body. The Body along with it's many parts has many flavors and their experience of the worship service, whether it be at 8:45 or 10:30. We believe in one God and the freedom to experience him in each of our own relationship style with him. Just expressing personal views.
For me, the ability to continue to worship past the arbitrary closing time, helped me draw near to God. I am not always finished when others might be and for Pastor Ray to tell folks to leave when they were ready but allow others to continue to worship was very helpful for me.
