    Thanksgiving Weekend

So, Thanksgiving weekend is coming soon.

    1. What will you do with your weekend?
    2. Will you get Friday off of work?
    3. If you don't get it off, will you take it as a vacation day?
    4. Will you stay at home or travel?
    5. Do you know what is super special about the Saturday after Thanksgiving in Maryland? If you do - what is it?

We will have our Thanksgiving dinner Wed night. I will be working Thurs. (yep, that's right!) from 6a to 11a coming home and fixing dinner with Ezekiel (he'll be 12 on Thursday!!!!! so it will be his birthday dinner) and off to bed early as I have to be at work 4:30 am on Friday to smile at all you wonderful people that come to the store at (yawn) 5 in the morning! :) Working retail, I don't get too many holidays off.
I will have Sat. off, though. :)
What is special about the Sat. after? I get to CLEAN!!!!!!!!!!! :)
(sorry, Ray, but that's the day I get to clean house. :) )

    Amy,

Sorry for your rough schedule. I won't add to your yough day - I don't shop during the peak times!

No one has guessed the importance of the Saturday after Thanksgiving yet - but someone will!

I'm in retail like Amy so I will be in bed early Thursday so I can get to work @ 4am for our 5 am opening. Fortunately Macy's isn't open on Thanksgiving yet. I will be working Sat & Sun & almost everyday in December.
My daughter will be visiting us in the beginning of the week so we can see each other before I turn into a "zombie"(my husband's name for me this time of year).
I will be traveling from my front door to my bed & pj's.

I will see family on my weekend. I should be getting wednesday and friday off. I will be traveling all the way to Annapolis and then back to Bowie for Turkey day. The Liturgical calendar begins the Sunday after Thanksgiving.

Sedge - you are right - Advent begins on the Sunday after Thanksgiving this year - but - that isn't what is special about the Saturday after Thanksgiving...

It has something to do with deer season starting, I think. Linda

Joy, Grace and Allison Patterson are driving up to NYCity to see the Macy's Parade on Thursday!
That will be a memorable Thanksgiving day. The rest of us will be home, hosting dinner. Is there anyone who does not have family in Bowie and needs a place to share dinner? There is room at our table! Please, call or email me, we love to have a full house for Thanksgiving.

Linda had it right - it is the first day of firearms season for deer...

I thought you said it was super special. Not much about slaughtering God's creation is special, in my opinion.

Some say slaughter - and that opinion is held by some. Some say management - and without legal hunting animals would overrun the human population - there are no natural enemies of the white tail deer for instance in our area. The herd doesn't self regulate.

I guess I'm from South Anne Arundel County. Here the first day of fire arm season is special. Sorry if I offended anyone.

My Thanksgiving was wonderful. Taking vacation for the week was a good idea. Lots done at home. Sleeping in late. Relaxing and refueling for the weeks to come.

Had a wonderful time with family - Carolyn's family mid day. My family in the evening. Love my great nieces and nephews. They are the bomb!

Oh Pastor Ray, no one says "The Bomb" anymore. But it's okay. You're still pretty hip. You're the only pastor I know with a blog, facebook, and twitter who text messages just as much as any 16 year old with a texting package. :)
