Who cares??? What it means to me or you...the question better stated, what does the text mean? What is the meaning and directive of the text.
The text I don't believe (per Scripture) is open to personal interpretation. The text has a meaning and it is our job, led by the Spirit to read, pray about, and to discern its true meaning.
I'm not sure why ones belief in what the text means to them as any bearing on the matter.
Just my thoughts,
Rev. Ray you know I was going to say that didn't you? lol
God bless,
Sincerely,
Bob Rogers
You are so right Bobby. The text does have a meaning, and probably only one right meaning, but since we all read with a different lense of experience and life, I was wondering how that truth struck each of us.
Maybe the better question would have been, what do believe this Scripture means and how does it impact your spiritual journey?
Well I don't know about the experience in life part and how it relates to the meaning of a passage. But, until Christ rescued me and I was found, there wasn't much of an experience in life, I sinned and sinned uncontrollably without knowledge of the offense before a holy and righteous God. However, upon His saving grace, through faith, my experience has changed in one that gratified its self now has a yearning desire to grafity the Lord Jesus Christ and to make Him more visible and me less visible. I guess in a sense that my thoughts, words, and deeds are that of Christ's being manifest through my life ( by His power) and I guess you could use the word experience here and the old sinful self is seen less and less through the mortification of sin that was so prevalent prior to Christ's working a mighty work within me.
John here in 3:30 was refering to how his ministry is to end and Christ's is to pick up and that the jews in the previous passage are to look to him (Christ) and no longer John. For his mission was completed so to speak. They thought John was going to be jealous and they pointed this out by there comments, although, John being who he was and knowing full well what is mission was wasn't one bit jealous and didn't care that Christ was now being followed; he was actually very glad and joyful as the passage tells us.
God bless,

"He must become more, i i must become less":
i think that this passage means so much more than just the fact that this happened with John and his circumstances. as in many, if not nearly all passages, esp.in the new testament, i believe am lead by the Holy Spirit to believe that these passages are still alive and meaningful to each of us in our daily lives and attitudes. This is a very welcome passage to see on my pastors emails, even if many times, & everyday; to know that this is a desire of his heart, and that hopefully this is the example of the attitude and life he will live(lead) before us, and expect for us, his flock to also desire. for as we know too, "He will give us the desires of our heart"; and that desire is to become more like Him/Jesus Christ. amen
thank u. ann m
