    SkiMO

How about sharing some of your experiences at SkiMO? Some are first time attendees but some have gone year after year. Share what God has done for you at a SkiMo in the past or what you hope God will do this year in your life.

This will be my 7th year, and while I am not "technically" a youth, I usually act like one.

Year after year without question I would have to say its the worship. Ever year I witness total surrender to the Lord during our Worship time. I remember one year during worship I walked around the hall and not ONE person was simply observing what was going on. All were lost in worship. Its come to the point now that kids that have been going come expecting awesome worship.....and that is contagious!

for those that have not been, we are not going on a Ski trip where we do Church stuff in between, we are going to meet with God and occasionally take breaks to board :)

Every year something different happens at SkiMo to make it memorable. Whether it has been costume contests, games, skits, worship, and just hanging out, there is always something that makes that year stand out. I have developed so many friendships on these trips and gotten so close with so many people. It's hard to narrow my memories down to just a few!

The past few years the worship has been incredible. It is a feeling that I can not even describe. I have never felt anything anywhere the way that I have at SkiMo...I guess just because it is set apart from home, school, work, church, and the routine that comes with all of that. Beyond that, It has been a thrill to watch students that I have always thought as disconnected find who they were in Christ and feel free in a sense of worship all their own.

Aside from the worship, there are so many events that always excite me. The meals are always my favorite, its awesome to get to hear how everyones doing...How the skits were the night before, how they are meeting new people, how everyone fell on their butt or won stupid plastic toys at the arcade.

AHHH i'm getting more and more excited for this coming skimo the more i think about it! I cant wait for a new year with new memories and new experiences, and getting to see a new group of students find God in their own way.

    yayyy!

I have been to 6 SkiMo events and for me the reason we go has got nothing to do with snow or skiing. These two and a half days of seclusion allow the youth leaders and the students they serve to develop lasting relationships and wonderful memories.

We all remember Brian Fellows and the Snow Bunny - well we all do if we were there. That simple line just brought back a ton of memories to those who were there. What about this one - cardboard discs hung across the stage that read HERO under nornal lighting, but in darkness JESUS shines brightly.

SkiMo is a time when relationships are built, where students and leaders alike are challenged to live through the rest of the year in a way that honors God. It is a place where some first gave their lives to Jesus, where others were set free from spiritual bondage, and where everyone has the chance to sit in the presence of the Lord of Lords.

My only issue with SkiMo is that the time goes by so quickly - but then again, I dont think I would survive another day at SkiMo - I am exhausted but exhilirated at the end of the 2.5 days.

Please pray for us this year and look out for some new service project ventures that the youth would love support in over the next few months right here in Bowie.

This year we hope to see that He truly is 'God of this City'.

My favorite Ski Mo moment happen during my first one. 2000. The room I was staying in had a fold out bed from the wall. I always saw these beds in movies or tv shows and the one person being push up in the wall. So I decided i wanted to do this. so i was in the wall but my roommates didnt want me to come back out. I started pushing the bed to get out and they were pushing to keep me in and push me right through the wall.

so ryan deal and I raised money in the lobby to pay for the wall.
