Today we held our first "annual" Martin Luther King worship service. The service began with open discussion about our remembrances of Martin Luther King and what he worked toward - harmony among all people.
The service continued with a short clip of his family "I have a dream" speech in front of the Lincoln Memorial. This was followed by at team of our youth leading us in a time or worship. Rev. Dr. Rodney Smothers concluded the morning with a Word from God.
I want to thank the 68 folks who attended the service, the many people who helped prepare breakfast, run the music and video, helped with the service and helped clean up.
Is this something you want to make annual? Are special services like this something we want to do more or at Mt. Oak? Your comments are welcome.

I want to say that the service was very moving and I for one would come again next year.

It was a great start to something I will look forward to every year and the worship was great. Big thanks to the ones that was apart of the worship team.
WHAT AN AMAZING TIME THIS MORNING AT THE MARTIN LUTHER KING Breakfast! I was touched and moved and especially blessed! I will not miss another one! I consider it a joy to have spent a morning off of work enjoying this time of fellowship and challenge. Thank you for offering this service! Joan Adomanis
Rev. Smothers' word encouraged me not only to hold on to MLK's dream, but to have a dream of my own which is to see the community around me join together and proclaim they too are (spiritually) free at last.
