Hey Mt. Oak & Friends,
Your pastors have an idea we need your honest feedback on real quick.
On a Sunday this summer - what if we did this...
One worship service - 8:30 am in Fellowship Hall - Acoustic Worship
After worship we would have a church-wide mission project - StreetReach!
We would have things for everyone to do (a list will be posted) from old to young!
Just think about 350-400 people hitting the streets of Bowie cleaning yards, washing cars, spreading the love of Christ.
We would return (inviting anyone we ran into) to church for our annual picnic!
This is the base idea - details once we decide to GO!

I still love this idea! It would be so awesome to have all of our church in the red shirts all around Bowie. We can reach so many people!
I like it, I think it's actually a really great idea.
To reach people that nobody is reachign we must do things that nobody is doing.
I believe that it is time for us to do what God has called us to do - reach this city with the love of Jesus.
I would love to see us not just go out on one Sunday morning but to take a few Sunday mornings and put feet to our faith and go out and serve.
You dont need to ask me twice.

Sounds like a great idea. Can't wait to see this happen. What a great way to show our love for Christ thru service to our community. Let's get plans made and do it.
Oakdale did something similar. It was quite successful from many angles. Let's make church a verb, not a noun.

I don't know about combining it with the picnic, that takes lots of work to put together and would be better on a day of its own.

Best idea Mt Oak has had in a very long time. Cant wait to see this happen. I truly think it is the best way to show our community the love of Christ, through service. I really think that we need to take action to reach people. I love Becki's quote "Let's make Church a Verb, not a Noun!" That should be the Mt Oak montra!

What a great idea! StreetReach is a great program but doing it on Sunday as part of our church service is such an innovative way to show that God is not just within the walls of the building we call church. Count me in!
I'm excited by how quickly people are responding - keep the responses coming. The E-News goes out this evening and the hard copies Sunday morning. We'll make a go or no decision first of the week. Get others to leave a comment so we can know the support this outreach will receive.
I'm working on a proposal that will address most thoughts and concerns about the Picnic, StreetReach, VBS and more... stay tuned!
