My favorite MO memory was the day I knew the people here loved me. I was in Jr. High on a day trip to King's Dominion with about 200 other youth. It was my first MO Youth Ministry trip. Some how I lost all my lunch money. It was $40 buck and we had just got to the park. I got ditched by the only person I know on the trip. So I was there feeling alone with no money. I just wanted to go home. I called my mom collect and she was going to pick me up. I told her I had to find the youth pastor to tell him. I went to the meeting place that we could go if we needed any thing.

I went there and there was the youth pastor Shane Sisk and I told him my story and told him I wanted to go home. I told him I had already called my mom and she wanted to make sure you knew I was leaving. As we walked over to the phone he told me it was going to be ok and asked questions about me. When we got to the phone I called home and put him on the phone with my mom. He assured her that I was ok and that there was no need to come pick me up unless I really want to go.

He said he would make sure I ate and had a good time. I told my mom I would stay. Shane then took me to the ATM and gave me $40 of his own money. I was floored. He said that is for you to have a good time and the meals are still on me outside that $40 bucks.

I never felt so loved by someone that wasn't my family or friend. I felt like he really cared about me. From that day forward I made Mt. Oak my Home.

My favorite Mt Oak memory goes back to when George Anderson was the pastor, but the mood of that day has been repeated many other times by Pastor Ray or Pastor Charlie or Dione. Here it is: Pastor Anderson had just preached about the Ten Commandments and then made an alter call. Youth and adults covered the front of the church in tears of repentance. I remember clearly that I thought, "Here is a guy old enough to be their grandfather, preaching the same old Sunday School lesson about the 10 commandments- and these young people are moved by the Holy Spirit to give their lives to God! What a miracle! The Spirit is moving at Mt Oak Church"

My favorite memory from Mt. Oak was this past Summer (2008) My wife and I had just begun attending and heard about a church picnic, which we decided to attend. We brought our son Daniel (7 years old at the time) so he could have fun and meet the other kids. When we got there and saw all the people and the food and the games, Daniel got sooo excited! He asked us "Is this church?" to which we both looked at each other and smiled.
It was that day that I made up my mind that Mount Oak was the place for us. We were greeted so warmly by everyone there that we felt like lifelong members. Daniel had a blast playing volleyball and jumping in the moon bounce.
I was so thankful that we found Mount Oak, and we became members shortly after.
