January 22, 1973, Roe v. Wade became law. Here is a link to look at what was decided.

What are your thoughts on this anniversary. Are we in a better place some 36 years later? Abortions are on the decline according to some reports.

What would happen if Roe v. Wade were overturned? What if abortions were only available for rape, incest and the life of the mother (not life circumstance but the actual life)? Some speculate that only 7-12% of all abortions fall into this category. Most abortions are abortions of convenience. I would rather not be pregnant!
Would better education by parents and society reduce the number of unwanted pregnancies? Remember, there are no unwanted children. Bethany Christian Services proves this every year as they (and other organizations like them) place special needs children 100% of the time.
Prayer is needed today and everyday as we as a society continue to kill millions of lives through abortion. Prayers are needed today for the women caught in a place where they feel aborting their unborn child is their best solution.
As a pastor, I have had to deal with post-abortion syndrome in a number of women through counseling. The pain goes beyond the abortion.
Please pray today.

A woman is either pregnant, or she is not pregnant. A baby is either conceived, or it is not conceived.
We appease our conciences when we say that abortion is only permissible under certain circumstances. The outcome is still the same for the conceived life, regardless of the circumstances in which that life was conceived.
Either we accept abortion, or we reject it, with no consideration for circumstances. There is no such thing as a conditional pregnancy.
We should not as a society be allowed to make decisions over another person's body, but we can advise them of their options, and offer support through the repercussions of their choice.
Before anyone else gets the wrong idea, I wasn't approving abortion for rape, incest or the life of the mother but rather suggesting that most abortions do not fall into that area of circumstance.
Having said that, I do believe that abortion is acceptable, although a sad option, when there is a tubal pregnancy for instance where neither the mother or the baby would survive.
I agree that life is life, and that abortion is the ending of life. Don't misunderstand what I was saying.
In the book of Jeremiah, God says BEFORE I formed you in the womb I knew you.
Now maybe I'm not the smartest person in the world, and maybe I'm reading this wrong. But my interpretation is simple.
If God knew you before he placed you in the womb, then HE made whatever circumstances present, whether it be a rape, incest, or "high risk", or just an "accident."
Now please understand that I'm on the outside looking in, and have no actual first hand experience with abortion so don't hate me for my feelings.

If Rose v Wade was overturned we would have illegal abortions abounding. America (and other countries) have gotten themselves in a deep hole when it comes to abortions being stopped. They can't get out. There is no way that my tax dollars will stop paying for abortions. It will continue on. We Americans have no soul when we accept abortion as a means to an unwanted pregnancy. Abortion has desensitized us to the sanctity of Human Life.

Our leaders (including the new president) seem to feel killing an unborn baby or worse yet, one that could be delivered, but instead they kill it before it delivers completely is an OK think. Afterall it would be an "inconvience" if someone were to have baby they did not plan on. Of course if people were not jumping from bed to bed in this society, unplanned pregnancies would not happen nearly as often (and STD's would be pretty much unheard of). But no, we want/deserve our freedom no matter what the cost. We choose to allow the government make our choices for us. I think we need to get the abortion issue on a ballot and see what happens from there! Why has the government been allowed to make this decision for us?
Abortion is murder; you really can't get around that. It isn't the child's fault; they shouldn't be the ones punished.
I was once asked if I wanted to discuss other "options" as I hesitated when I received the answer over the phone--I already KNEW the answer, and wasn't sure how to acknowledge what I already knew to be true... The girl on the other side seemed rather shocked when I told her that "it's a little late now"; the "damage" was already done....
I think abortion was devised to try to cover up sin--sex outside of marriage.
When I was growing up, my Dad told me that I can go out and have as much sex as I wanted and with as many guys as I wanted to and no one would care or say a thing. I just had to remember one thing: All the guy had to do when he was finished was pull his pants up and go on to the next girl, where I would wear it out in front of me for 9 months and everyone would know what I'd been doing and no one would want to help me take care of the baby for 18 years... I didn't need that graphic lesson, but I have used it to discuss the same topic with some of the younger girls at work. It really makes you think...
we must be able to love people with out accepting the sin in their lives. taking the life of a baby is always wrong. are we not to help the helpless? who is more helpless than an unborn baby?
i realize that some pregnancies are difficult situations but most times i believe the adults involved had choices and did not make good ones. the baby has no choices.
there are no illegitimate babies only illegitimate parents. some one will always adopt a baby some one else doesn't want. there are no unwanted babies. even the very handicapped.
Roe v. Wade is influenced by the question, is a fetus a life? For if it is not, then the only life in question is that of the mother. Since the fine judicial minds of that time could not conclude that a fetus is indeed a life, their application of justice was to the mother's life alone. This is very sad for so learned and moral of individuals; according to the Constitution, a supreme court justice must have "good behavior", so they must be moral or else they would not know good. So how is it that so many missed the fact that a fetus is a living person? And even if one were not certain, should not one err on the side of life in matters such as this? The reality is that almost everyone knows that a fetus is a living pre-born-person, and as such qualifies for the same protections of liberty as a child newly born.
For those that proclaim the right of a woman to choose an abortion based upon the liberties that we all cherish, I find their blind exclusion of the pre-born-child's liberties revealing, and hypocritical. In truth, the motive is not about personal liberty; it is about personal convenience at the sake of the liberty of another to continue to have life. The continuance of support for Roe V. Wade is merely a reminder that people are more interested in being their own god than bowing down to the true God who created them. Until our society changes that core attitude, we are stuck with what we have; may God be merciful to our country. However, don't get too hopeful as He allowed the Civil War to happen.
