Which worship service is best for you and why?
What about the 8:45 service works for you? What is it that draws you into worship? Into the presence of God?
What about the 10:30 service works for you? What is it that draws you into worship? Into the presence of God?
How can we improve, in your humble opinion, the worship service you attend, to deepen our worship of God?

"Improve" is a subjective term. One person's improvement may be another person's distraction!
Why seek to improve worship based upon public feedback? Surely the mark of worship is that people are drawn to the presence of God where they can then make their offerings to God and to receive from Him according to their needs. To tweak it based upon a market survey would be to say that the whims of the congregation outweigh the objective of worship.
If people go to church because it "works for them" then church is doing something wrong. Church is not supposed to work for people, it is supposed to provide a setting where people offer their praise, worship and offerings, are equipped, and then sent out to get more people. A church where worship works for people has taken it's eyes off Christ and focused instead on their own interests.
I love your thoughts and couldn't say it better.
I'm not looking to change the meat of the service - the Word of God is the Word of God - and we will continue to draw people into the presence of God.
The question is to find out what does that for different people? What works for you - that we are or are not doing - to draw you into the presence of God for worship? I will change the original question to better get at that point.
I agree with anonymous 9:40 am and with Pastor Ray. It is all about coming into the presence of God but different forms of worship work on different people different ways.
For me and extended time of praise and worship music helps. I would also like to see a significant time for prayer, both silent and verbal. I am also moved by sermons that are both personal (illustrations) and application driven. I like the historical view but want to know how the Bible relates to me today.
My 2 cents. I attend the 10:30 service.
Having attended in the past more of the 10:30 services and in the past year more of the 8:30 services. "For me" as long as there is some time-line structure and non-repetive nature of the service helps "me" stay focused and therefore I experience the sermon and overall worship better. When things seemed to get "free-willy" I get distracted and start to watch the clock and then become removed from what I walked in the door from in the first place. I truly would encourage that folks that attend the 10:30 service be respectful and attend on time and settle in VS talking when the Pastors and/or worship team attempts to start service.
I have tried both services (keep in mind I am only here for a short time... another 4 months or so) and there are merits to both services. I like tradition. America seems to be losing its traditions one by one so I try and hang on to whatever I can.
That said, some of the traditional hymns just bore me to death, while others are just simply awe inspiring and beautiflu pieces of music and really worshipful. Some of the traditinal hymns hit me in the soul unlike most modern "worship" music. To have the right blend of traditional and modern/contemporary songs is where I like to be. Delivery of the music is a huge part of the worship time for me as well. Some mornings I can handle a louder approach, but at times I find the contemporary side of worship more like a concert setting than a worship time. I am NOT saying I see it at MO mind youses.....
I guess my preference would be somewhere in the middle of all that. There are some great contemporary worship songs out there, but truly awesome modern worship music tunes are few and far between IMO. But they are definitely there.
Your church is blessed to have an awesome worship team and I have enjoyed the worship time. There are mornings however where I am just not wanting to get my ears ringing so I am thankful I have the option of going to a quieter more reserved service.
But I am am old goat so what do i know!
Just do not get me started onthe state of Contemporary "Christian" Music on the radio!!

We go to the 10:30 service so the children can go to children's church. What "works" for me: QUIET!
If we had quiet, meditative music, I could get into the proper frame of mind and settle down from the stress of getting to church on time, getting everyone to the proper class on time and just have a few minutes to relax and reflect before service. Maybe quiet music could begin after the group practices before service?
I enjoy both services for different reasons.
I enjoy the early service when I attend because the pastor is able to be very personal with the congregation. A smaller attendance and a smaller place of worship enables the pastor to be close and can make eye contact.
I enjoy the second service because of the music. I listen to 91.9 and 95.1 FM and the music the bands play is what is on the radio. I can take my worship on the road with me so to speak.
Both are powerful and meet certain needs within me. Thank you for the variety.
JOHN SAYS
IF IN FACT YOU HAVE BEEN IN WORSHIP TO GOD IN THE MORNING THEN WHEN YOU COME TO OUR PLACE OF WORSHIP YOU SHOULD BE FILLED TO THE OVER FLOWING AND WHAT GOD HAS FILLED YOU WITH CAN BE SHARED. SOMETIMES I THINK THAT THE BODY OF CHRIST WANTS TO BE MADE COMFORTABLE BEFORE IT CAN WORSHIP.
WELL, I LIKE THE 8:30 SERVICE FOR IT'S REVERENCE AND THE 10;30 FOR IT'S JUBILANCE. THE ONLY THING THAT I'D LIKE TO SEE IS THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK OF THE CHURCH JOIN IN THE WORSHIP AND NOT STAND WITH FRIENDS AND CHAT AND POSSIBLY BECOME A STUMBLING BLOCK FOR NEW BELIEVERS OR OUR GUESTS.
