What is Your Focus and the Focus of your Church?

Yesterday I asked what you were passionate about? I then asked what your church was passionate about? No answers yet.

Today I want to ask, what is your focus as a Christian? What is the focus of your church? This may be different than your passion. We cannot be focused on all things, all areas. If we are not focused on all things, we might not be focused on what you are passionate about.

Can you support a church that is not focused on what you are passionate about? What should a church be focused on?

Our vision is to make or live as Disciples of Jesus Christ. We have a clear mission statement. It says we will go about making and living as disciples of Jesus Christ through Introducing people to Jesus Christ, Developing relationships in Jesus Christ, Making mature disciples of Jesus Christ.

Everything we do, everything we fund, everything should be focused on this vision and mission. That needs to be our focus. Superficial programs and activities that do not conform to this focus should not be supported.

What is your focus? And what is the focus of your church?

This was a good logical extension of your original question w/ the potential for great returns on the results that come from the comments received.

My focus as a Christian is to live a life that glorifies God inside and out and to mature as a disciple of Jesus Christ. I am passionate when I see my younger brothers and sisters in the Lord eagerly seek Him out and learn the ways to do so.

I think the focus of our church is making people feel comfortable and getting people involved in being relational. We have passion for the means of achieving this focus. I think my passion potentially aligns with the means of the church but not necessarily this focus. I still am and will continue to support the church as I make my way into adulthood out of love for my Father, His family, gratitude to those who I've learned from within the Mt. Oak walls, and Paul's urging in Heb 10:25 to not stop meeting.

Pastor Ray, you keep challenging us to know what we think and to think about what we know. Thanks for this.
