I found the youth - it was easy to find them - in the M-Section of Bowie. I drove through and found a sea of red shirts all over the yard.
They were working on a home where trees, weeds, grass and most everything else was overgrown. When they arrived they could not see the side or backyard. When I arrived they had already trimmed the trees and gotten vines out of them in the front yard. They were clearing the roof of limbs and cleaning the gutters. There was a pile of weeds, branches and trash growing by the curb. They were heading to the backyard.
The woman of the house was in tears that our youth would come out and help her. She was an older woman taking care of grandchildren. Not sure of all the family situations, not our business, but she was in need.
Her neighbor came out and thank the youth as well. I am proud of our young people and their leaders. They are showing the love of Jesus.

The kids and I drove by Majestic Lane around 11:30 and the kids looked like absolute zombies; they were all SOOOOO tired. We drove by again close to 2:30, as I drove by with GatorAde and water for the group. They were glad to see us. As we drove off, Rebecca who is 8, said that "when I grow up, I want to be in Street Reach". I thought they had gotten a lot done when I saw the yard the second time, and I didn't even see the "before" picture!
Yesterday was my day off of work and I decided to spend it with the Street Reach team. It was truly a wonderful experience. Knowing that I was serving the Lord made the work that much better to do. I felt fulfilled, blessed, and humbled. Now Im back at work wishing I could be with the Street Reach team blessing and serving our community.
