Our Summer Adventure Camp - VBS

Our summer adventure camp - VBS - ends tomorrow, June 26. How about some words of encouragement for those who planned the event, for the workers of the marketplace, for the tribe leaders and more?

I will begin by saying that it was awesome seeing the gym filled with children and parents. I don't know the numbers but it seemed twice as many as last year if not more.

The tribe leaders all did a wonderful job this year and the marketplace has never been better. We have some real creative people at Mt. Oak.

I was blessed to attend and see the smiles on the faces of the children. They loved the skits and the whole experience.

Our children have been blessed by all of the planning and leadership from Jerusalem Marketplace Adventure. Although we found that is was a little too late to keep the boys out, all the children have been excited to go to church every night! Tonight the girls couldn't wait to tell me about Peter and Judas. I asked them to tell me what they thought Peter and Judas were thinking and they were really able to relate to the story of Jesus' betrayal. Job extremely well done! We have attended each evening-- "we" being all 6 of our kids, and myself. All the kids, including Jeremiah get all excited when it gets close to time to go because they each have such a good time. We have each enjoyed the activities, and they were really fascinated with Rabbi Yelsew and his Hebrew lessons also. :)

I brought 4 children to VBS and 2 of them do not attend church at all. They moved to Calvert a few years ago. When they lived in Bowie, I would bring them to church with me--they were so excited to be a part of the Jerusalem Marketplace--the leaders and helpers and all that were part of the VBS did such a wonderful job of leading the children towards God. I am so thrilled that each night they would come back to my house and sit down and discuss what they learned at VBS. Thank you, all of you, for doing such a great job with our children!!! The excitement on the faces of all the children attending was precious beyond words--they will always remember the special time that they spent at Jerusalem Marketplace VBS.

Colleen Bell is CRAZY! She attepted the impossible and pulled it off!

The best part for me was watching the large group come together and dance and sing! We have a tremendously diverse group! It's beautiful!

Thank you, Colleen. Thank you to all who did the prep work -- assembling tribal kits, separating the memory makers, laundering costumes, making banners, and so much more -- that made my tribal leader job so much easier. Thank you to the adults who fully entered the fun and role playing. Thank you to the shopkeepers. Thank you Rabbi Yelsew. Thanks to all who participated. My children loved every minute and learned a lot. I didn't see ANYONE who looked bored. I look forward to next year!
