    Added Worship Service

It is time to debate the pros and the cons of adding a new worship service on Sunday mornings or at some day/time. I love to discuss things and get the bugs out before we approach an idea. I am not saying we are moving next month to do anything but rather talking about it ahead of the moment.

The Question - As we approach 300-350 on a regular basis at 10:30 am service, do we add another worship service or build a new worship center?

To start the ball rolling, here is a suggested Sunday morning schedule, if we add another service.

8:15-9:15 am Traditional Worship in Sanctuary
8:45-10 am Additional Service in Gym
10:30 am -Noon Contemporary Worship in Gym

    1. We realize there is a crossover of time in the early services.
    2. We believe that adding a third service will automatically increase attendance, and thus add to our base and strengthen our church.
    3. We could offer Children's Education at both services in the gym.

To build a new worship center that would hold 1,000 to 1,500 people would cost what? 3 million or more?

Is it more important to worship together (one large worship center) or utilize the facility at additional times while adding to the staff?

    Let the discussion begin.

I think that we need to have an open discussion of the congregation to throw these ideas around. Alot of people do not respond to the blog and we all need to be involved with decisions such as these. It does not seem to me to burn out our Pastors on Sunday--maybe a Saturday eve service to go along with the prayer meetings that are happening on that eve. Also, to jump right in to financing new buildings for larger groups seems a bit much. I would prefer to add on to the existing building by going out into the parking lot and then paving a new area for the parking. We may need some cost analysis done on these options--it is truly wonderful that we are able to even have these discussions about our growth of Mt. Oak Church---but we do need to try and involve all the Mt. Oak attendees for ideas--Praise the Lord for Pastor Ray and his one year anniversary with us--and thank you Pastor Charlie for your devotion!!! Lorie Lowery

A new Worship Center would be great, and I think parking and all that will be a part of the budget for it but until it's time we're ready to build and ready to use it, I suggest we try and manage?

Adding another service sounds like a great temporary fix but all the services would collide. The Sanctuary Service and Gym1 Service collide because of start time and the Gym1 and Gym2 service because of ending.

People start arriving at 10 for the 1030 service so parking probably wouldn't be available yet. 845 service would want to stay and mingle lest we tell them to take it to the Children's Center but then where would the Children go/be? How many people are allowed to be the Children's Center at one time?

In the past the services were 800, 945 and 1130 (I believe) but I see a lot of harm in moving a service so close to the afternoon.

So I'm all for a new worship center because I find it no coincidence that God would have housing developments go up on all four corners of our property.
