    Comments on Today's Sermon

I don't usually load the gun and point it at myself - but - what did you think of the sermon today? Daniel: Against All Odds. It should be up Sunday night if you wish to listen to it again to give your thoughts.

Be gentle - but give me some feedback!

The sermon was personally convicting since I spend most of my time at a public university. Even as early as closing worship I was thinking about the ways that I could stand in my social circles and I asked God to help me step out and stand for Him.

I didn't agree with the use of the War in Iraq as an analogy to Standing. Everyone has different opinions on this particular war, the Vietnam War/Pearl Harbor, and even on pre-emptive strike. Without turning this into political debate, I just don't think the reference met the message. However, those that share similar opinions might have thought it was a good example.

When you referred to the critical bills that have been presented at our State senate, it worked much better. These point was made to get our voices heard and take the stand. There was no debate in my mind that lobbying my state delegates/senators was a place where I could stand as an individual and as a Christ Follower.

All-in-all, another challenging, thought provoking, biblically based sermon that is presently relevant and wholly encouraging to the body of Christ.

Thank you for your thoughts Josef. The war analogy was risky with the political arena so volatile these days. The point was, whether we agree or not, had we not stuck our head in the sand during WWII for so many months, waiting till we were attacked at Pearl Harbor; a lot of lives might have been saved. Our President, whether you agree or not, stood for what he believed to be the path we should take. Hind sight is always better than the moment of the decision. Several candidates for President this year supported the decision to go to war with the intelligence at hand at the time. It wasn’t supposed to be a statement we all agreed with, but rather a point about standing against all odds.

Thanks for your thoughts and encouragement.

Its funny how God likes to drive points home in your life. I attended the Passion 08 conference and one of the speakers spoke about trials and pains and putting all your hope for God.

I thought the sermon was awesome. Its always good to be challenged in our faith. As Christians, we need to realize the amazing gift we have and me need to show it off for the world to see. We have to remember that we are here to bring Glory to God. No better way than to stand up for Him. I believe God is preparing me for a trial in my life. Thank you for bringing that message Sunday. It what I needed to hear.

Sunday's sermon was one of those where the preacher looks right at you, is speaking directly to you, and you sit there wondering "How did HE know what was ggoing on?"
I don't know how many times you walked over to our section and looked directly at me when you were speaking (I know it wasn't intentional :) ) but I thought it was a really soul-searching message. I do need to stand up for my beliefs more than I do.
