In a recent poll we were asked to vote on doctrines we thought were essential to Christian fellowship between denominations and other Christians. The following were the percentages this poll revealed
The Deity of Christ – 93%
Authority of Scripture – 90%
The Trinity – 87%
Salvation by Grace Alone – 83%
Christ's Substitutionary Death - 80%
The Virgin Birth – 80%
The Gifts of the Spirit – 67%
Bodily Resurrection – 54%
Satan is Real – 54%
John 14:6 – 51%
Eternal Punishment – 38%
Abstinence – 22%
Total Depravity of Man – 22%
Mode of Baptism – 3%
I wonder how many read John 14:6 before they voted? Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If 46% of those who voted think there is another way to the Father than through the Son I would like to hear what it is?
Remember, all Scriptural doctrines or beliefs are important. The question was basically; which doctrines must you have in common to have Christian fellowship with a group of believers. The results showed that 80% or more of those who voted said the Deity of Christ, the Authority of Scripture, the Trinity, Salvation by grace alone, Christ's Substitutionary Death and the Virgin Birth are essential doctrines.

Each of the dotrine voted on is something we should hold dear. It just seems odd the way the Person of the Holy Spirit gets lost in all our considerations.
It seems nothing happened that needed to happen without the part the Holy Spirit played. It can be seen from when the earth was without form through the conception of Christ, all through His life and as He was ready to be taken up.
The Holy Spirit is Christ in us today as the revelator and testifies to Christ. If we must test all spirits, there is one that is litmus.
If we be still, we will know He is God. But we grieve the Spirit a lot by things we say. Thoughts we think. All that we do that we ought not do. And the Spirit shies away as we have our way.
But the Spirit is with us until 'the work on earth is done'.
We thank for that in Christ's name.
Just my thoughts.
