    I'm Excited

I am really excited - can't hardly wait - until tomorrow! August 6th will be the first time I have stepped into the pulpit, preaching God's Word, since May 21st. We will begin a series of sermons titled The Character of a Godly Person. This series developed from my devotions as I realized that God seeks a willing heart more than a gifted person (I'm sure God could use both but most of us think we'd never be an Elijah). Yet James 5:17 reads; Elijah was a man just like us.

As we examine different character traits of a Godly person, I pray that we will be open to examine our lives and allow the Holy Spirit to work on us and in us to grow us in Jesus! Remember, gold is more valuable the more it is refined and purified by the fire. Although salvation is a free gift, we are called to work out our salvation, that we might be more useful, more valuable, to God. Philippians 2:12-16 - 12 Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed-not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence-continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, 13 for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose. 14 Do everything without complaining or arguing, 15 so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe. This verse is speaking about the character of a Godly person, a person who strives to be the best they can be for Jesus, whether watched or not so to speak.

Join me for this sermon series and pray for our church and her growth in Jesus!
