For the first time in more years than I can remember I didn't attend a church service this morning. Because Carolyn had a full weekend and wasn't feeling the best I left at 6:20 am with Jackie to a horse show in Upper Marlboro. I listened to two worship services on the radio and lots of Christian music but it wasn't the same. I missed worship with other Christians.
It often strikes me as sad that rain can keep Christians from worship on Sundays (as does heat, snow, the threat of snow or rain, and so much more) while a horse show, with only slight temporal consequence, will keep on going through terrible weather (it was literally raining cats and dogs today). Does this say something about our view of worship (see a worship article on http://mzblogs.blogspot.com/.
When Quoting Scripture Inflicts Harm

I woke up with only 30 minutes to get ready for church. It was really tempting with the rain to just stay home. I considered it, but something in my head told me to get my lazy butt up and go. I'm glad I did. It put my mind and spirit on the right track. Sometimes it's not what's preached or sung, but it's mind-set. Some things just come together during worship. I think this is especially true because we are out of the house, workplace, etc. away from the day to day distractions and in a place set aside for a specific purpose-worship. And it is a time for nothing else, but worship.
